W.D. Kilpack III wrote his first novel when he was 12 years old. That was when he changed his career goal from starting his own line of comic books to being a novelist.

Mrs. Ferrin, his teacher in Language Arts and Gifted & Talented at West Jordan Middle School, allowed him to write a new chapter for every writing assignment throughout the year. Her encouragement had a huge impact on his life.
